If it ain't broke...

Why did Opal Fruits become Starburst? Where did Spangles go? Whatever happened to Acid Drops. Was I the only child brought up believing that woodlice were called grampy pigs (embarassing when I forget the 'new' name). Money had friendly nicknames such as bob, penny, tuppence, tanner, half a crown which sounded much nicer than pee. Where did slips and petticoats go? Why did I have to grow up.

  1. OH NO, I've been calling them granpywigs.

I got pulled up 20 years ago for saying: 'chimley' instead of the proper chimney, I had no idea where I'd picked that up, until I started reading 'Little Grey Rabbit' by Alison Utterly to Erbie. Turns out it's what Hedgehog uses (old soft country language).

Wagon Wheels came back, so did Spangles, for a while. Texan bars didn't and Yorkies have stayed - but just for boys??? I saw some Galaxy Counters the other day but they didn't have any numbers, what's the point of that.

Petticoats have certainly slipped away, it's all leggings and Spanx these days, but I reckon they'll be back, everything comes back eventually even if it's under a different name.

  2. Don't get me started on Snickers, which were called Marathon down south!
